SEIU members endorse Shemia Fagan for Senate District 24.
SEIU is proud to endorse Shemia Fagan for Senate District 24. She is a true champion for affordable housing, she shares our union’s values, and she has a proven track record of success in the Legislature.
A note from Shemia:
My dad raised my brothers and me as a single dad in Dufur and The Dalles, and my mom lived in East Portland. We struggled every month to keep a roof over our heads. Years later, I realized that our spontaneous camping trips were really my dad trying to put a positive face on our family’s homelessness.
For many politicians, the housing crisis is just another issue. Not for me. I’m committed to delivering housing security because I believe every Oregonian deserves it.
I put myself through college, then law school, and I’m now a civil rights attorney. In 2012, I was elected to the Oregon House of Representatives in large part thanks to the work of SEIU members.
As your Representative I was an unwavering champion for the issues that SEIU members brought to Salem. I fought to strengthen unions and I voted against cuts to healthcare and critical public services.
As your State Senator, you can count on me to be a voice for the Oregonians who go unheard.
